CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) is a quick, safe, and effective way to produce strong and aesthetically pleasing dental restorations. Most commonly used for dental crowns, CEREC utilizes computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) to produce resilient and highly functional restorations during a single office visit. Hayward dentist Dr. Gary Fong is pleased to be able to offer this service to our patients and would be happy to address any specific questions you may have about CEREC restorations during your next office visit.
If you are interested in learning more about CEREC or CAD/CAM dentistry in the Hayward area of California, please contact Gary G. Fong, DDS online or by calling 510-582-8727 to schedule a consultation.
CAD/CAM dentistry uses advanced software to design restorations such as dental crowns, inlays and onlays, and even porcelain veneers. The CAD portion allows Dr. Fong to create a precise model of your restorations based on specifics unique to the tooth being restored. This helps ensure a flawless aesthetic and a seamless fit into your smile.
After a model of the restoration has been made, the CAM portion of this technology gets to work milling the highly detailed crown out of high quality composite resin. This restoration will be colored, sized, and shaped to fit ideally into your smile and, due to the quality of the resin from which it will be milled, can continue to produce pleasing results for several years.
Caring for CEREC Crowns
Caring for CEREC restorations requires little to no modification to your daily oral hygiene routine. Brushing with a soft bristled toothbrush and avoiding abrasive toothpastes will be important to prevent scratching your restorations, but these same steps are needed even when crowns are manufactured by a third-party. During your appointment, Dr. Fong can cover care of your new restorations in greater detail to help ensure lasting and reliable results.
